Spaces We Love: Brickyard’s Creatively Vintage & Inspiring Workspace

By Rachel Bliss & Hannah McNeil

We always seek to feature spaces that visually speak to a company’s culture and purpose, and when we walked into this office, we immediately knew it would be a space that we loved. As a female and artist-owned studio specializing in visual effects, content and production, and with an impressive client roster including Comcast, Lego, Carnival and Allstate—to name a few—Brickyard knew they needed a unique space to showcase their creative talent and business. When they found a vacant space in one of Boston’s most creative neighborhoods, they quickly decided it was the perfect spot to call home.

Brickyard SWL 1

Nestled on a street lined with brick buildings dating back to the 1800s, the Crawford Building was constructed in 1899, originally used as a factory. Due to the area’s out-of-the-box architecture that naturally spurs innovation and artistic flair, the neighborhood is also home to many creative agencies. Located in Boston’s Leather District, Brickyard’s office on Lincoln Street is filled with character, but it wasn’t that way when they first acquired the space. It needed a full build-out to restore the space back to its original form, as over the years other tenants renovated it with white walls, drop ceilings, cubicles and carpet. The final result seen today, including the brick interior with exposed wooden beam ceilings and ducting, along with original hardwood floors, was all the result of Brickyard’s founder. Another bonus—the location is prime, positioned right near the South Station and within walking distance of many hotels, restaurants and attractions.

Brickyard specializes in high-end visual effects, animation, design, content creation and creative development for advertising, feature films and emerging media. Their business believes in the power of storytelling and the magic of visual effects to bring narratives to reality, and their office brings their own mission to life perfectly! Walking into the space, you are immediately submersed into Brickyard’s creative world, filled with an eclectic mix of vintage furniture, antique décor and one-of-a-kind signage. Their founder’s collection of vintage signage and neon signs—ranging from playful phrases to storefront pieces—is on full, vivid display throughout the space, adding a lively vibe to every room.

But this isn’t just an incredible space that features incredible art at every turn. Brickyard’s office comes complete with conference rooms, collaborative workstations, private offices, a kitchen, and even a movie screening room! Talk about a fun aspect of their company culture!

The main focal point of the office is their beautiful antique bar, where the team gathers for lunches as well as collaboration meetings to get the creative juices flowing. This room also is also the place where they host lively events for their clients and team!

The space comes complete with a rooftop patio, a true rarity in Boston, which is the perfect place for their team to soak in the beautiful Boston city views.

Without a doubt, this incredibly creative space sparks the imagination of anyone who enters, which is exactly what they set out to do with each client. Their office truly fosters an environment of creativity, fun and team collaboration, making it another one of the Spaces We Love!
