Peek Inside Gifts.com’s Dazzling New Office in Downtown Los Angeles

With its industrial-chic vibe and loads of open space, Gifts.com’s new office captures the energy of downtown LA’s eclectic urban center.

When Kim Salzer, CEO of Gifts.com tasked Hughes Marino with helping her find new space for her LA-based team, she came to us with a very specific vision. “We wanted a space hip enough to fit the sensibilities of our company, and inspiring enough to keep our incredible team happy and comfortable at work,” Kim said.

Downtown Los Angeles proved the perfect location. With easy access to freeways and the Metro rail and bus lines, Gifts.com’s new home on the fifth floor of 523 W. 6th Street is within easy walking distance of countless restaurants, retail and convenience stores, to say nothing of its prime location in the heart of the urban revitalization taking place in L.A. “Downtown is emerging as an eclectic and energetic center of culture, shopping, and dining and we were determined to be a part of it,” Kim added.

Hughes Marino’s role in this project was to locate the perfect space for Gifts.com’s new headquarters. That space needed to match the company’s brand, which is that of a cutting edge, technological leader, which also happens to be a terrific company to work for. We found precisely that in a 6,500 square foot space within an architecturally stunning turn-of-the century building that boasts original brick walls, high ceilings and exposed ductwork.

To maximize the inherent beauty of the building and open feel of the space, sophisticated yet understated furnishings were chosen, which are offset by pops of bold color on walls, in rugs and in custom light fixtures. Open workstations occupy the middle of the office and boast tremendous views of downtown via the large windows running the length of the space. Interior glass windows also serve as dividers separating the kitchen and conference rooms from the rest of the workstations.

The final result is awesome, and we are honored that we had the opportunity to help bring Kim’s eye-catching vision to life. With favorable rent, and turn-key tenant improvements that will meet Gift.com’s cultural and organizational goals, Hughes Marino is certainly excited to watch Kim and her team continue to grow and enjoy the success of their company.
