Impeccable Mini-Goalers,
What a great, family-friendly and fun way to wrap up our mini goals in December with groups gathered together, patiently working on cool puzzles. The Jarvis family might have done a puzzle even if it wasn’t our December mini goal. But then again, maybe it would have stayed in the box while we were busy with all the other holiday plans. I am glad we pulled the puzzle out of the box. It is such a little thing. Tiny really. Kind of like the mini goals. And sometimes the little things are bigger than we realize in the moment.
Our friend Angela completed a puzzle with her sons and their wives and sent a really cool time-lapse video to share with us! Brenna Palmer and her family in Dallas had a blast working on a 1,000-piece round puzzle over our holiday break and in each of our offices, we also set out a puzzle for the team to work on throughout the month.
And while we are at it, let’s take a moment to recall all the cool, simple little things we did in 2017, you know, just because we said we would.
A definite shout out to Mary-Jo Uniack and Angela Koutis, who participated without fail, every month. Clearly, they are the individuals who keep their word and honor their commitments. Respect.
As a fun reminder, here is a look back on the goals we set out to accomplish in 2017:
January- Play a board game with friends or family
February- Visit a museum
March- Bring home a beautiful bouquet of flowers
April- Go on a bike ride
June- Write an article
July- Watch the sunset in a special place with a special person
August- Go to a live music show
September- Take a road trip
October- Take a long walk
November- Record some family history
December- Work on a puzzle with friends or family
To Mary-Jo, Angela, Laura, Erwin, Ed, Tim, Joanne, Laura, Owen and all of our other participants, we thank you. We applaud you. Thank you for joining in on the fun. You explored different cities, took walks, rode bikes, admired beautiful sunsets with loved ones, enjoyed the outdoors and experienced live music shows!
Here at Hughes Marino, we strive to be impeccable with our word, in our professional lives and in our personal lives as well. If you think about it, it really is a massive ambition (and at the core of our company culture). I mean, how much wiggle room is there in that word “impeccable,” right? Here’s a hint—not much, or maybe none at all.
So here, here—a toast to 2017! A hearty thank you to all who played along. And our heartfelt gratitude for sharing your photos and your stories. Ours is a patchwork quilt that is the extended Hughes Marino family, and we are stronger for all who join us in the games that we play as we grow.
What’s in store for 2018, you ask? Well, in the words of Dick Van Dyke (as Bert):
Winds in the east, mist coming in,
Like somethin’ is brewin’ and bout to begin.
Can’t put me finger on what lies in store,
But I fear what’s to happen all happened before.
Curious? Good. Stay tuned for the announcement of next year’s mini goals!
Say it, do it, repeat. This is how we grow!
