June HM Mini Goal – Take a Walk Without Your Phone

This month is an important milestone as we hit the halfway mark into our year and our 2024 HM Mini Goal Program. We hope accomplishing these goals has brought some joy and fulfillment to the first half of your year, and we are eager to see what the rest of the year brings. Our goal was to bring home flowers in May, and we received so many great submissions of beautiful blooms brightening up your homes. From gathering flowers at farmer’s markets and your own backyards for your homes, to arranging bouquets for loved ones, to planting beautiful roses, we share a vibrant collection of your photos below!

Our June HM Mini Goal provides the perfect opportunity to unplug and recharge, as we invite you to take a walk without your phone!

It seems so simple—the act of leaving our phone behind, and yet we rarely allow ourselves the opportunity to be disconnected. So often instead, we move from digital screen to digital screen, from phone, to laptop, to flatscreen, scrolling, checking and updating, with little space for calm reflection. This month, commit to taking one walk without your phone. Whether you set out on a favorite hiking trail or walk your dog around the neighborhood, allow yourself to be fully in the moment, detached from the constant pull of digital alerts, buzzes and interruptions. Perhaps you’ll become more in tune with the surrounding sounds and scenes, or more aware of your breathing or the way you are moving. We hope this small act may inspire other phone-free excursions and remind us that, sometimes, less can be more.

As for capturing a photo of a phone-free excursion, here is one idea: set your phone up for a long distance selfie in the direction of your walk, set the timer to 10 seconds and head on out! And all you creative folks will likely find other fun ways to document this month’s Mini Goal. We look forward to learning about your long walk unplugged.

After you’ve accomplished June’s goal, don’t forget to tag #hmminigoals on your social media channels, and email any photos to minigoals@hughesmarino.com. We’ll share photos of all your walks throughout the month on social media. We can’t wait to see where you go!
