Hughes Marino is proud to announce that our Senior Vice President Cameron Love was named Young Leader of the Year by the CoreNet Global North California Chapter, the second largest chapter in the nation. We are honored to have Cameron as part of the Hughes Marino team, who continuously exudes our core values within our company, to his clients and to real estate professionals across the industry. As a tenant representation advocate, Cameron strives to help inform businesses and colleagues on a daily basis, and this award emulates his commitment to his community.
CoreNet’s Importance in the Brokerage Community
CoreNet Global is a non-profit association representing more than 10,000 executives in 50 countries with strategic responsibility for the real estate assets of large corporations. The mission of the Northern California chapter is to connect corporate real estate, workplace and employee experience-oriented professionals to advance knowledge, promote personal excellence and add value to each individual and their respective enterprises. They accomplish this through facilitating and sponsoring a variety of diversified programs and initiatives that provide members educational and networking opportunities.
“My commitment to community has never been ‘what can I get out of this for me?’ It has always been about volunteering, being friendly and serving as a mentor to help others advance their way in their careers,” says Cameron.
CoreNet provides meaningful opportunities to build community, share knowledge, elevate the industry and provide cross-pollination across networks. Because of this mission, Cameron has proudly been an active member for a decade. “CoreNet is a community of people who truly care about commercial real estate, and who want to make an impact in the industry by making real change in the way people work and experience workplaces,” adds Cameron.
CoreNet Mentorship Involvement
A natural leader with a commitment to his community, Cameron has served in many leadership roles over the last decade, including as co-chair for the Young Leaders group since 2019. Throughout his time as a leader, Cameron has planned and hosted around a dozen events annually, facilitated a mentorship program and arranged courses to further educate and provide new skills to its members. He is also no stranger to overcoming challenges. During the pandemic, Cameron took the lead in helping the organization adapt to a strictly digital platform to continue to add value to their members during the lockdowns. “We had to add value to the members and engage without being able to meet in-person. We actually were teaching the chapter how we could do this virtually and still make a meaningful impact on-screen instead of in-person. Our strategy worked, and we even surpassed the New York/Tri-State chapter membership numbers during that time.”
Involvement at Hughes Marino
Since the very beginning of his career in commercial real estate, Cameron has been an advocate for tenants, by exclusively representing occupiers of office space. His strong commitment to tenant advocacy led him to join Hughes Marino to help eliminate the potential for conflicts of interest, which happens all too often in the industry. Cameron is on a passionate mission to make all tenants aware and informed of the dangers of dual agency brokerage. With every one of his clients, he ensures their interests come first, and that they have a fair shake at the bargaining table as they work with landlords on their real estate transactions. “The Bay Area is full of innovators, and Hughes Marino is no different. As the champion of the underdog, we are all cut from the same cloth around our mission to protect the corporate tenant. I’m looking forward to the ways I can continue to educate the CoreNet chapter in Hughes Marino’s unique platform and approach, as well as change the narrative in ways that maybe traditionally were not thought possible around commercial real estate firms.”
While Cameron continues to be a mentor to college students, as well as members within CoreNet, he attributes his inspiration to mentor others to a fellow Hughes Marino teammate, Executive Vice President Kevin Brennan. “I’ve known Kevin since 2016 as a direct mentor and teacher to me. When he joined Hughes Marino, he became my confidant and partner, committed to ensuring that we never cut corners and are always striving for excellence to be the best tenant representatives in our market for our clients.”
Looking Ahead
As for what’s next in Cameron’s future after receiving this accolade? “Receiving this recognition from my peers is a humbling honor. I now have the ability to pivot and make the next step, taking that energy and community to find what’s next and create new opportunities. In my role as market leader in the Bay Area, I’m excited to find new ways to innovate and elevate my role as a corporate real estate advisor, and educate the way we do things to this CoreNet chapter. I want to make outside change. I can assure you I am not going to wait idly around and be passive—but continually grow and provide value to my community.”
Congratulations Cameron, and thank you for everything you do for your community and Hughes Marino teammates!
