Company Expanding Operations to Meet Strong Client Demand
Hughes Marino—the national flagship brand for providing commercial real estate services, exclusively for tenants and buyers—is excited to announce the ongoing expansion of its corporate footprint, with the opening of a new office located in Seattle, WA.
“We are thrilled to be growing our ecosystem into the Pacific Northwest,” says Jason Hughes, CEO, president and owner, of Hughes Marino. “The commercial and entrepreneurial spirit of this region is at the core of its rapid growth and economic success. Our leadership team understands the importance of bringing the industry’s best portfolio of service offerings to businesses seeking tenant and buyer representation.”
Located in the stunning 42-story Russell Investments Center in downtown Seattle, the new Hughes Marino office will occupy 7,300 square feet on the 25th floor of the high rise, which is strategically situated at the center of the city’s market, retail, financial and cultural districts. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to position our newest office in such an inspiring and visionary space,” said Shay Hughes, COO and owner, of Hughes Marino. “As with our existing locations, Russell Investments Center delivers the perfect mix of functionality, aesthetics and creative energy, which align synergistically with our firm’s culture and core values.”
Floor-to-ceiling glass throughout the new office will offer panoramic views of Elliott Bay, the Olympic Mountain range, CenturyLink Field, and Seattle’s bustling downtown. “Workspaces are increasingly becoming a vital aspect of team member attraction and retention,” Shay said. “We craft all of our offices with amenities and signature residential design elements that invoke an engaging, stimulating and collaborative environment where our team feels right at home. We have a very familial culture, so ensuring our offices feel like a home away from home for our amazing teammates, clients and the communities we serve is one of our highest priorities.”
Due to the national attention about the seriousness of conflicts of interest, the demand from businesses seeking corporate real estate advisory service from firms who only represent companies leasing or purchasing office space, not landlords, is growing and continues to be a driving force in the Hughes Marino expansion effort. From inception, the executive team has worked aggressively to bring to the marketplace a proprietary customer-centric approach to commercial real estate transactions. “We have always focused on the client relationship,” Jason said. “Now with our Seattle office, we can introduce an entirely new audience to the Hughes Marino experience.”
The orientation to the Northwest region also provides a strategic and tactical foothold for the CEO to continue his assault on the dangers of commercial real estate brokerages representing both landlords and tenants in negotiations. “My belief is that dual agency should be illegal.” Hughes, who has long-championed tenant and buyer rights, recently launched the Association for Commercial Tenants (ACT), and was instrumental in the passage of California’s real estate broker agency disclosure bill, SB 1171. Now he is pushing hard to eliminate the dual agency practice altogether in California with passage of AB 1059. “Whether it is Seattle, Los Angeles, New York or Chicago; companies who want to lease or purchase commercial office space deserve completely unconflicted representation. Companies are the end-consumer – yet the industry has always favored and protected landlords. It’s way overdue for a seismic shift to put tenants, not landlords, first,” he said.
Well known for its culture of innovation and robust commercial atmosphere, the Seattle metro is home to best-of-breed companies across a range of verticals. The Hughes Marino name only adds to this burgeoning reputation. Fortune Magazine ranked Hughes Marino #7 in the nation among the country’s best workplaces, and was the only commercial real estate company placed in the top ten of best-rated U.S. companies of any size. Entrepreneur recognized the firm #3 in the nation in their Top Company Cultures list for medium-sized companies (and #2 for small-sized companies in 2015). In each of their markets, Hughes Marino has been lauded as a top ten best place to work, including garnering accolades as the #1 medium-sized company in Los Angeles.
With strong growth forecasts ahead, Hughes Marino is poised to deliver the same level of exceptional service and quality client engagements to the Greater Seattle business community. “Excellence is our brand, and we relish the opportunity to bring our insight and expertise to new markets,” Jason said.
