Sunny Singh founded Edifecs in 1996 with the mission to find a better, more accurate way to track and process data. When HIPAA was introduced, Edifecs technology found massive success in the healthcare industry and has been focused on applying technology to improve our healthcare system and bring well-being to the world. Not only does the company improve the lives of millions of people through their software, Edifecs has also built their office space centered around the idea of bringing health and well-being to its own team. In 2014, Edifecs opted to relocate to a nature-centric office park rather than a high-rise surrounded by concrete and highways. Their headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, is nestled within 65 wooded acres, surrounded by a freshwater canoe trail that leads into Lake Washington. Everything in the office is intentionally designed to fulfill all aspects of their employees’ well-being which positively impacts team member engagement and individual performance.
There is no lack of activities or modes of transportation outside their office! The company provides bicycles and kayaks for recreation around the office park. One team member was even known to kayak into work! An abundance of walking and biking trails throughout the office park provides the perfect way for employees to get outdoors and immerse themselves in nature. Staying true to their focus on sustainability, Edifecs also has four electric company cars that remain available for team members to use on an as-needed basis.
In the reception area, you are greeted by a plant filled lobby that features hanging pendant lights along with a grand two-story staircase. Ample natural light is found throughout the entire office. Recent studies have shown that natural lighting is a top office perk and Edifecs clearly had this in mind when they developed their outstanding work environment.
Entering the main foyer of the workspace, Edifec’s core values are proudly displayed on a vibrant orange wall. Having their values front and center in the workspace is a great way to constantly reinforce the principles that the company operates by. Aside from their core values wall, most of the internal spaces have been painted a darker color to allow the surrounding landscapes and natural light outside to become more present and permeate the office. It is amazing how this simple design technique truly makes the outdoors feel closer.
Throughout the office, various common areas are accented with lighting and colors intended to produce a calm energy. These common areas make you feel like you’re in a place of relaxation–like a spa! It has been proven that a calm mind and body gets you into a state of optimal mental creativity and efficiency, and Edifecs’ space definitely exudes a tranquil vibe!
Every plant in the office is purposefully and meticulously selected—it’s hard to find a single room in the entire building that does not have at least one plant. Edifecs believes the plants bring more energy to the space and help keep the environment in the building healthy. We give praise to their botanist who keeps their plants so healthy!
Food and diet are a core part of well-being, and Edifecs has spared no expense when it comes to ensuring their team is well fed. Twice a week, a Michelin Rated Chef comes to the office and utilizes their outdoor gardens as the source of herbs and vegetables and then convenes with team members in the industrial-style kitchen to make a meal. The team is encouraged to join the cooking process and hone their culinary skills. All friends and family members are invited to join as well!
When it comes to physical health, Edifecs has definitely thought of it all. They have a full-time personal trainer, massage therapist and nutritionist. There is also a dedicated room full of massage chairs for when one needs a quick break from their workspace. There are daily exercise and yoga classes along with guided meditations. Their gym is fully equipped with the best exercise equipment and to continue the environmentally conscious focused mindset, the floors are made from recycled rubber from the soles of Nike running shoes!
Congratulations to Edifecs on the outstanding success of their business and for truly bringing well-being to the world and their team members through their amazing office space!
