March HM Mini Goal – Plant Something

We have two months in the books of ‘doing what we said we would do’ for our 2024 HM Mini Goal Program! In February our goal was to paint something, and you all really showed up. From beautiful team watercolor works, to painting a new nursery and painting fences, walls and other home improvement projects, we loved seeing how everyone expressed their creativity with a paint brush last month. Keep scrolling to see some of our photo submissions!

With the anticipation of spring right around the corner, we think this next goal is pretty fitting! Whether it’s through planting seeds, bulbs or flowers, we hope you enjoy our March HM Mini Goal to plant something!

Not all of us were born with a green thumb—but anyone can enjoy the benefits of planting and you may even discover a newfound passion along the way. A fun place to start can be with a simple tomato, cucumber or other vegetable plant. Set it up in a sunny outdoor spot and enjoy the benefits throughout the spring and summer in the form of fresh salads and stir-fries. Berries are also a good choice—strawberry plants in particular tend to be easy to grow. You can also set up a little herb garden inside and use it to enhance your omelettes, roasted veggies, fish and other dishes. Planting some rose bushes or a tree can be really rewarding for years to come. For the lowest maintenance plants, choose a few hardy perennials to enhance your outdoor space, or watch a succulent or orchid grow on your windowsill. In the act of planting and tending, we have the opportunity to connect with the natural environment around us and enjoy the calm that comes with slowing down.

After you’ve accomplished March’s goal, don’t forget to tag #hmminigoals on your social media channels, and email your photos to minigoals@hughesmarino.com. We’ll share photos of your planting progress throughout the month on social media—it’ll be rewarding to see what sprouts over the month as we garden across the country together!
