Description
The historic World Trade Center building was transformed into an innovative, integrated homeless service and residential community center. The Connections Housing partners who occupy the space include Affirmed Housing Group, Family Health Centers, PATH Ventures, People Assisting The Homeless (PATH) and Alpha Project. Connections Housing occupies 73 permanent supportive housing units, 150 beds of interim housing, a multi-service center and a clinic providing healthcare.
Added Value
Hughes Marino Program, Project & Construction Management was selected to assist the developer’s own internal staff with managing the difficult construction process. The developer had not completed a project of this type or magnitude and was looking for expert assistance. Hughes Marino was instrumental in setting the project expectations for both the general contractor and design team and keeping the project on track.
Service Provided
Hughes Marino provided construction management services including schedule monitoring, site inspections, establishment and monitoring of the project budget (allowances, contingency, contractor exposure holds), change order review and negotiations as well as monitoring of RFIs, submittals and general contractor buy-outs.
