October HM Mini Goal – Send a Note of Gratitude

October always brings a hint of cooler air and the prospect of pumpkins, and, of course, another HM Mini Goal because, you know, we said we would. We certainly don’t want to break our streak after crushing our September goal, to go for a bike ride! We loved seeing the beautiful places and interesting paths you explored throughout the month!

As the final quarter of the year begins to come into focus, it seems a fitting time to both accelerate to the finish line while also looking back and appreciating how far we’ve come. That’s right, appreciation and gratitude are our focus this month. In particular, we are thinking about the people in our lives for whom we are grateful, and we are going to make sure they hear from us, because we are sending a note of gratitude in October!

There’s enormous power in a thank you. It tells people in your life that you see them, you recognize their work, their generosity, their commitment and their support. This month, think about the people who have provided you with significant connections, mentorship, encouragement or advice, and write one of them a letter of gratitude. You can send your note in whatever format you choose, and we believe there is something special that comes through when you take the time to send a hand-written note. The flow of the ink from the pen in your hand takes a little longer and conveys a powerful message, crafted by you, for them, because it matters and because you care. If you run out of time, an email will suffice, and we recommend getting after this one early, and by hand.

See if you can find a fun way to take a photo of your note, maybe just the back of the envelope sealed in wax or a blurred image so as not to reveal your personal correspondence, and then email it to minigoals@hughesmarino.com and we’ll share your photos on social media. We can’t wait to see the artistic ways you capture your notes of gratitude in action!
