The summer months flew by and we are finding ourselves in the midst of many exciting projects for fall. Here’s an update on the work we are doing around Southern California.
Phase I of the BioLegend’s new campus in Miramar is now complete! The Hughes Marino team wrapped up the exciting first chapter of this new headquarters for the biotech company, which consisted of a two-story lab and office space facility. Phase II programming and design is underway. Construction is slated to begin the middle of 2018.
Construction on Bayside Fire Station #2 is in full swing. Excavation for the subterranean parking is nearly complete and we’ll soon see the structure come out of the ground. Hughes Marino and the entire project team of Civic San Diego, Rob Wellington Quigley Architects, and Barnhart-Reese Construction are excited as the project passes this milestone. You can check out the progress of the project at anytime by accessing their project progress camera.
Design of the new corporate headquarters for WD-40 is underway. They recently closed escrow on a two-story building at 9715 Businesspark Ave in San Diego, and Hughes Marino has been helping assemble the design and construction team for the past two months. Design of the 40,000 square foot two-story space will be complete by year’s end. Major features will include an open structure design with a training center, all hands meeting area, and indoor-outdoor break room. Move in is targeted for June 2017.
We are busy putting the finishing touches on our project for Classy.org, the #1 online and mobile fundraising platform. Classy’s new headquarters showcases the beautiful views at DiamondView Tower (Downtown San Diego’s premier high-rise), while putting the company’s culture and sense of community on full display. Here’s a sneak peek at the reclaimed brick in their elevator lobby. Be on the lookout for more photos in Star Hughes-Gorup’s upcoming blog post in her “Spaces We Love” series!
Greenwave Systems successfully moved into their beautiful new space at the new 200 Spectrum building in Irvine this summer. Their full floor office includes open ceilings, all-glass breakroom, an electronics lab, and a state-of-the-art conference center, all within the five month project schedule, on time and on budget!
Hughes Marino is thrilled to be working on our fourth tenant improvement project with The Enthusiast Network. The renovation of their El Segundo headquarters is scheduled to start in early December. As described by Katherine Dao and Helen Park of Interior Architects, the designers for the project, “The Enthusiast Network’s new El Segundo space is designed not only to appeal to their clients but to demonstrate their own creative expertise.” We are honored to continue to be a part of such an amazing team and can’t wait to see the transformation of their headquarters. Stay tuned for more updates!
Spotted Around Town
After an initial tour of the San Diego Central Courthouse in April, members of our San Diego Operations team had the unique opportunity to see the progress of the almost-complete San Diego Central Courthouse downtown last month. Led by the Rudolph and Sletten team, our team went behind-the-scenes to view the downstairs detainee chambers, all the way up to the top of the building to see the fantastic views and completed cantilever roof. The impressive 22-story project is set to be complete in December and has already become a great addition to the San Diego skyline.
That’s a wrap – Be sure to stay tuned for future exciting updates from our team!
