Description
This project consisted of the demolition of two single family dwellings on two adjacent properties to make way for a new two-story, 10,500 square foot student center. The building has a large multi-purpose room, kosher kitchen, library, student work area, and living room with an adjacent coffee bar, a second floor patio that has garden space overlooking the grass quad and outdoor gathering space with comfortable furniture and a BBQ. The exterior of the building is a combination of stucco, siding, CMU block and high performance glazing systems. The roof is covered with a photovoltaic array which offsets power consumption and serves as an integral part of the building’s accomplishment of receiving LEED Gold certification. Site improvements included a complete re-grading of the site, preparation for and installation of permeable pavers for the parking lot, site walls and fencing with automatic gates and a trash enclosure.
