Mike McElwee is an executive vice president at HM Science, a specialized life science division of Hughes Marino which focusses on biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Considered one of the region’s most successful brokers with over 25 years of industry experience, Mike offers his clients a depth of professional expertise and local market knowledge that is unmatched in the North Texas area.

Specializing in the life science sector, Mike focuses on managing his clients’ real estate portfolios and creating optimal facility strategies. His transactional experience includes managing and negotiating life science office and industrial leases, building sales/purchases, build-to-suit projects, site selection and business incentives.

In recent years, Mike has worked on well over 300 transactions with a value in excess of $1 billion. He has worked with clients from a multitude of life science industries including pharmaceutical, manufacturing and biotech, as well as healthcare services. These projects range from local lease transactions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to global portfolio consolidation initiatives. Mike’s well-developed technical knowledge of the real estate process, particularly with industrial product, gives him a keen understanding of the important principles that must be incorporated into each transaction.

Prior to joining Hughes Marino, Mike served as a principal at Avison Young, where he focused on consulting, advisory and occupier solutions for industrial and biotech tenants. Before Avison Young, Mike worked as a managing principal at Cresa for over 12 years, where he led a team of transaction managers overseeing diverse client portfolios.

Mike lives in Weatherford, Texas, with his wife, Karen, and their three children. Mike is active in giving back to the community, where he volunteers helping those with down syndrome, as well as supporting other civic and philanthropic organizations in the DFW area. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family outdoors on the lake, cycling, hunting and snow skiing.
