As we begin to wind down another year, we like to reflect on what we’ve accomplished, who we are as a company and who we are as individuals. Looking back, we can’t help but feel truly grateful for all the opportunities we’ve experienced in 2024, which includes the incredible relationships we’ve built with our clients and within our company, as well as the opportunities we’ve had to serve our communities.
Our eighth core value to “give generously to others” is embedded in the foundation of Hughes Marino’s DNA, and something we are honored to practice within the cities that we operate in to make meaningful impact. With three days of volunteer time off provided per year, our teams have jumped at the opportunity to come together to spend time helping others. Here are a few of the many ways we’ve had the privilege to give back to the organizations that positively impact the world around us.
In San Diego, we’ve volunteered with Feeding San Diego and South Bay Community Services’ Hope for the Holiday program, and several of our teammates regularly volunteer with Serving Seniors. Our Dallas team planted trees at Bonton Farms, participated in a lake cleanup and volunteered at the Bridge/Stewpot Food Kitchen. In Boston, teammates volunteered at the 128th Boston Marathon. Three of our Los Angeles teammates ran in the Berlin Marathon, and in the process, raised money and awareness for the National Down Syndrome Society and Tuesday’s Children. In Denver, one of our team members regularly volunteers at Food For Thought, and teammates recently ran a 5K to raise money for the Bettering Human Lives Foundation. With the holiday season quickly approaching, many of our offices are organizing volunteer events at local food banks and charitable causes, including the Stewpot, Orange Country Rescue Mission, The Road Home and Feeding San Diego, among other organizations.
In addition to volunteering as a group, some of our teammates have made a powerful impact all on their own. One of our Orange County advisors co-founded 100 Companies That Care, an incredible organization that bridges the gap between nonprofit and for-profit companies by connecting Orange County businesses to facilitate corporate giving within the community. In Seattle, another one of our advisors joined the board of the Methow Valley Nordic Ski Education Foundation, an organization dedicated to engaging, developing and inspiring individuals through Nordic ski programming and events. Many of our team members are on boards of charitable organizations ranging from Life Science Cares, Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Voices for Children, in addition to giving back on a personal level. One scan through the bios on our team page will make it evident that our teammates personally emulate Hughes Marino’s core value #8!
At Hughes Marino, our core value of “generously giving to others” drives our commitment to making a meaningful impact in the communities where we operate in and across the U.S. We hope you find these examples of how our teammates are giving back to our communities as inspiring as we do. They are a testament to our team’s dedication to positively impacting the communities we are privileged to be a part of, and we look forward to many more years of giving!
