Hughes Marino’s Newest Office Featured in Dallas Business Journal

It was an exciting debut for Hughes Marino’s first Texas location.

Appearing on the opening page of the Dallas Business Journal’s website, an article about the firm’s newest office featured photos and quotes from Executive Vice Presidents Mike McElwee and Art Green, both veterans of the commercial real estate market in Dallas and nationwide. They are optimistic about Hughes Marino’s entrance into the Texas market, particularly the fact that the firm focuses on tenant representation.

“Most brokerage firms derive the majority of their revenue from representing landlords,” noted Green, “which, in our opinion, is a serious conflict of interest.”

“You look at the organization itself,” says McElwee. “It’s a growing organization. I think the footprint we have here in Dallas is just the beginning of what we’re going to see here in North Texas.”

Our Dallas team is currently comprised of seven brokers, with plans to add more as business demands grow. Our team is excited to have opened the doors to our Dallas office less than a year after opening both the Boston and Raleigh-Durham offices. Those spaces joined existing operations in New York, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, East Bay, Los Angeles, Orange County and the company’s original office and headquarters in San Diego.

Green and McElwee agree there are “big as Texas” opportunities for Hughes Marino as the company expands locally.

“The vertical integration services we offer to tenant representation,” notes Green, “include an in-house legal team, program, project and construction management, portfolio lease administration, planning and design, and culture consulting. We’re going to talk about those things, not the umpteenth million square feet of space that we represent on behalf of landlords.”

McElwee agrees. “It is an extremely competitive market,” he says. “But we have diversity with the people we’ve brought on board. Not just tenure in the industry, but also in product type, from office to industrial to biotech to healthcare. That presents a huge opportunity for success.”
