Giving Thanks for The Toussaint Academy

Hughes Marino team members and their families packed gift boxes full of new clothing, toiletries, school supplies and other necessities for the Toussaint Academy residents to open on Christmas.

The list of people, places and things Hughes Marino is grateful for this year would not be complete without giving thanks to organizations in our community who work tirelessly to better our world. Today we’d like to tip our hat to an outstanding organization which does precisely that: the Toussaint Academy in downtown San Diego.

Toussaint Academy is the only long-term residential program for homeless youth in San Diego. The mission of this charitable organization is to assist homeless youth to reach self-sufficiency by providing a safe and stable living environment and a continuum of education and supportive services.

All items were donated by Hughes Marino team members and their families, who assembled the gifts during our office holiday party.

At Hughes Marino, we believe strongly in the power of community. Within our own company, we know that we are not nearly as strong individually as we are when we come together as a team. This philosophy extends beyond our office walls, and we are honored to be able to lend support to organizations that exemplify the true spirit of community building and support. Toussaint Academy does just that and more. Indeed, for homeless teens in San Diego, Toussaint Academy stands as a beacon of hope, and firm bedrock upon which to build a brighter future.

Earlier this year, as part of our effort to support Toussaint Academy’s incredible work, we were honored to participate in the 2013 TOWERthon. Now, we find ourselves again in the fortunate position to be able to help this organization, which gives so much hope to its teen residents. This time, Hughes Marino has volunteered to “adopt” the 28 teens living in Toussaint Academy for the holiday season. Our team is thrilled to be providing holiday gifts and personal items that the teens need as part of our own holiday celebration.

It took a lot of hands and a couple of trucks to deliver all the gifts.

Our excitement stems from knowing that there is simply no way our team would be in a position to help others out if we hadn’t received continuous support for our business from the local community. So the opportunity to pay forward our gratitude really feels like a gift in itself.

From the bottom of our hearts, Hughes Marino thanks Toussaint Academy for their commitment to making the world a better place, one person at a time, and we thank them for letting us play a small role in helping others this holiday season.

Delivering gifts to the Toussaint Academy
Visiting the academy was the highlight of our holiday party, with every member of the team pitching in to help deliver gifts to the kids.
