About
Jay Bergstrom is a project manager with the Program, Project and Construction Management team at Hughes Marino, a global corporate real estate advisory firm specializing in tenant representation and project management. Jay has over a decade of experience in the real estate and construction industry, and is currently focusing on commercial tenant improvement and government secure spaces.
Since joining the Hughes Marino team, Jay has helped clients design and build biomedical lab spaces, government accredited secure spaces (SCIF – Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility), and commercial office tenant improvements. Recent successful projects include Hillel of San Diego’s UCSD student center (6.5K SF), Quidel’s Rutherford Manufacturing Lab (172K SF), Cortica’s therapy clinic in Sorrento Valley (12.7K SF), as well as an office and secure spaces for a large hardware technology company in D.C. (18.8K SF).
Jay joined the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman after high school and served with 1st Marine Division on tours to both Iraq and Afghanistan where he performed as front-line medical support, and later as the manpower manager for 1,500 Navy personnel attached to 1st Marine Division. Upon completion of his military service, he attended University of Arizona and completed a B.S. in applied management Grand Canyon University.
Jay received his real estate license while attending college and took over the property management division for Habitation Realty in Tucson, AZ, where he managed approximately 350 single-family homes. In 2015, he began working for Keller Williams as the office manager and continued property management services until transitioning to that team’s in-house construction management division. From 2017 to 2018, Jay managed multiple renovations and new builds and was eventually recruited by CA Ventures to assist in the construction of a 28-story, 324-unit residential high-rise where he performed project engineering support as well as interior superintendent responsibilities.
In his free time, Jay enjoys tabletop gaming, sci-fi fantasy novels, jujitsu and winery tours with his wife.
