The team at Riot Games’ West LA headquarters doesn’t have anything to riot about – at least when it comes to their amazing office space! Riot Games is known for its game, League of Legends, which attracts over 100 million players per month. Named one of the nation’s best places to work by Fortune, Riot Games understands just how big of an asset their office space can be to employee happiness, stickiness, productivity, and an incredible company culture. Their “Riot Manifesto” is clear and concise: 1) Player experience first, 2) Challenge convention, 3) Focus on talent and team, 4) Take play seriously, and 5) Stay hungry, stay humble. Their office space exemplifies #3 and #4 perfectly.
The Riot Games office spans 284,000 square feet in the Element LA office campus developed by Hudson Pacific. The exterior is modern, mid-century, and eclectic – with geometric patterns, lots of glass and metal, and reclaimed wood accents.
The interior is a gamer and coder paradise. There are pockets of dark rooms with futuristic pendant lights, high open ceilings that showcase the building’s neat bones, and exposed ducting.
Other parts of the building are characterized by lots of light and a more eclectic ambiance created by mixing woods, metals, an “earthy” carpet, and pockets of bright colors. Riot Games chose to place their breakout rooms in the center of the space, leaving the perimeter of the building open for the team to collaborate. Riot Games felt it was important to keep conference rooms in the interior of the building in order to not disturb the team when meetings were taking place. Companies that keep offices and conference rooms on the interior walls of the building also do this to preserve natural light in the space along the window line and create a more open feel.
Most companies would agree that outdoor space is a major perk. Riot Games’ outdoor space takes it to another level! Meandering paths through beautiful trees and vegetation combine with great outdoor patio space and market lights to make for a place that employees really want to spend their time. The oversized outdoor chess set is a fun touch!
The best part about all of this? Riot Games offers tours of their amazing offices. Visit their website to learn all about the company, the team, and sign up for a walk-through of their space!
