Star Hughes Named a San Diego Woman of the Year for 2014

Congratulations to Star Hughes, who has been named a finalist for San Diego Magazine’s 2014 Woman of the Year award!

We’re honored to announce that Hughes Marino Director Star Hughes has been named a finalist for the 2014 Woman of the Year awards presented by San Diego Magazine. Those who have worked with Star in any capacity know that she goes above and beyond what is expected of her in absolutely everything she does. From completing her MBA at age 21, to achieving remarkable success as a young woman in the male-dominated commercial real estate industry, Star has always set the bar high for herself.

As a key member of Hughes Marino’s downtown brokerage team, Star has created a niche for herself working alongside her father, Jason Hughes, where the two are in active negotiations for over 1.2 million square feet of leases. To date, Star has been instrumental in facilitating transactions for more than 1,000,000 square feet of commercial space.

A proud member of the millennial generation, Star has become a recognizable face in San Diego (the millennial capital of the nation) and beyond, as the result of her published works and interviews given to national, regional and local publications ranging from GlobeSt.com to Forbes to The San Diego Union Tribune and The Daily Transcript. Star has also appeared on local San Diego news programs including KUSI Good Morning San Diego. To boot, she’s been named to the Women Who Mean Business list by San Diego Business Journal and has been a two-time nominee for The Daily Transcript’s Young Influentials Award.

Star’s professional drive is matched only by her passion for giving back to others. An avid supporter of nonprofit organizations including the San Diego Symphony, Star also sits on the Community Advisory Board of San Diego Private Bank as well as the Professional Advancement Committee of the Lawyers Club of San Diego.

Five honorees as well as the winner of the 2014 Woman of the Year Award will be announced at a special event on September 24, 2014 at the Museum of Contemporary Art La Jolla. For tickets and information click here.

The entire Hughes Marino team is very proud of Star for earning a much-deserved place amongst some of the most influential businesswomen in San Diego, and we look forward to many more years of her incredible contributions to the local community.
