Fortune Magazine Names Hughes Marino #1 Best Workplace in the Nation

We are beyond thrilled and honored to announce that today Fortune Magazine released their annual list of best workplaces in the nation, and Hughes Marino was named the #1 Best Small Workplace! This past year alone, we have been named the #2 Top Company Culture in the nation by Entrepreneur, a Best Workplace by Inc., the #1 Best Workplace in Washington State by the Puget Sound Business Journal and a best place to work by Business Journals in each region we serve. Needless to say, our latest accolade by Fortune is the cherry on top of an amazing year!

Out of thousands of companies evaluated, Hughes Marino is notably the only commercial real estate brokerage company to be in the list for the top small and medium workplaces! The ranking considered more than 112,000 employee surveys from small and medium-sized companies. Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated more than 50 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team.

“When it comes to revenue growth and innovation, the 2018 Best Small & Medium Workplaces continue to outperform their peers making these companies more competitive and helping them secure their position in the marketplace,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “What these companies do differently than their peers is that they offer a great workplace for all employees, regardless of role or personal traits.”

I can’t help but feel nostalgic when reflecting back to this same time two years ago, when we received our first national award from Fortune, ranking us the #7 Best Workplace in the nation, which was one of our most significant awards to date. Looking back over the past year, to make this impressive ranking two lists in a row is incredibly humbling and rewarding. Hughes Marino Chairman & CEO Jason Hughes and I have always made the personal and professional well-being of our team members an absolute top priority, and we couldn’t have earned this accolade without each and every team member who has made our company what it is today. Since our last list, our team has doubled in size, we’ve opened offices, and we have added more benefits to help our amazing team as much as we can!

We truly feel that everyone is an extension of our own family, and we seek to enrich the lives of our team in any way we can. We do everything in our power to make sure all of our amazing team members feel valued, fulfilled and happy to come to work every day with people who care about each other. We try our absolute best to make each of our offices feel like a home away from home, from the furniture selection, to fresh flowers, to how we treat our team and guests. Each one of our beautiful, amenity-rich offices was designed to make team members and clients feel like they are right at home.

We work hard, but we also love to have fun! From fun Fridays filled with treats, our monthly birthday celebrations, all the way to running a 5K on the weekend, our team makes sure to enjoy the journey. Everyone on our team is always willing to help one another, no matter what role they have. Recently one of our business coaches, Mike Robbins, put it very simply: “We each have a different role, but we all have the same job—to help the team win.” This perfectly describes our team. We are always there for one another and all strive toward the goal of delivering the best service to our clients and each other.
