Room With a View: How to Capitalize on Your Office’s Window Line

An office with great window views and abundant natural light not only impresses clients, but also increases productivity and inspiration in the workplace.

Whether you’re moving into a new office, expanding your existing office, or thinking about rearranging your office setup, it’s important to consider how to maximize the impact of your window space – and its accompanying views – to align with your company’s priorities.

If you’re lucky enough to have a great office window view, you might as well be making the most of it. In general, there are three main audiences who will benefit from your view – yourself, your clients, and your team. All that you need to do is determine where your focus lies!

1. Yourself

If you have a small company (or if you’re the sole proprietor of a business) and you’ll be spending most of the day in your office, make sure that you’re the one enjoying the view. Make yourself happy first. Studies have shown that natural light and the ability to see outside is linked with increased productivity… so let the Southern California sun shine where you’ll be doing most of your work.

2. Your Clients

If you regularly host clients in your office, be cognizant of the impact a great view can have on their impression of you and your firm. If impressing your clients is your top priority – and if they are the ones who you’d like to most enjoy the view – then you should place your reception and conference room along the window line with the most appealing views, and arrange your team’s offices elsewhere.

3. Your Team

If your team is your most valuable asset, it is important to provide them with a creative, stimulating, and productive environment. Make sure your workstations and internal offices have visual access to the best views in the space, rather than being blocked off from the natural light that pours into your office. For a win-win solution, add glass storefronts to the internal offices to allow maximum sunlight and access to views!

Your view can be used as an asset – whether it’s for increasing your productivity, impressing your clients, or inspiring your team – so use it to its fullest potential!
