Riley Hillis is a senior managing director of capital markets at Hughes Marino, where he leads the firm’s Capital Markets group. Riley specializes in structured finance, investment sales and real estate capital strategies, bringing creativity and precision to every client engagement. His extensive knowledge of both equity and debt markets, combined with a background in investment sales, allows him to deliver tailored solutions for clients ranging from entrepreneurial companies to multinational corporations.

Riley has participated in sale, lease and financing transactions with an aggregate value well in excess of $1 billion. In multiple years of his career, he has achieved sales and financing volumes in the sum of nine figures. While quick to credit the teams and clients he works alongside, these results reflect his ability to navigate complex structures and to identify opportunities that maximize value for the organizations he represents.

Riley began his commercial real estate career in Denver, focused on investment sales, before transitioning to Seattle to concentrate exclusively on capital markets. Today, he is based back in Denver and advises clients nationwide on lease capitalizations, build-to-suit financing, joint venture structuring and corporate sale-leasebacks, helping occupiers harness the value their tenancy creates.

A graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, Riley earned a double major in business operations management and information management. Before his career in real estate, he competed at the highest levels of athletics—playing professional hockey in the Western Hockey League and later Division I football for the University of Colorado. That athletic background continues to influence his professional ethos, instilling resilience, teamwork and the drive to achieve collective goals.

Outside of work, Riley is passionate about Colorado’s outdoor lifestyle. Whether skiing, mountain biking or fly fishing, he values time spent in the mountains with family and friends. This balance of professional focus and personal passion reflects the values that guide his career: hard work, humility and a commitment to building lasting relationships.
