Little known fact about Travis:
He and his family have been off cable/satellite television for over ten years and they love it.
While some people have one or two hobbies that they are passionate about, Travis Carter’s curiosity when it comes to learning anything new knows almost no bounds. “I get suckered into things easily. Whether it’s music, surfing, construction, magic tricks, chess, ping pong, comedy, or Rubik’s Cube, when I get into something I’m really into it. Lately it has been haircuts every 10-14 days!” Yet for a guy with interests as diverse as Travis’, he’s surprisingly routine in his daily life.
12:00 am-2:00 am Travis’ newborn daughter Amelie awakens, and notifies Travis and his wife Ashlyn that it’s time to eat.
6:00 am Travis is up and making pancakes for his 2 ½ year old son Beckham, before heading into work at Hughes Marino’s San Diego headquarters.
7:30 am Travis joins the Hughes Marino team members in the office. “The earlier I can get to the office, the better. The coffee here is really good, and I love getting into the office while it’s quiet, and before the phones begin ringing,” he says. For the next several hours, Travis spends his time on the phones with new companies he’s working with, while keeping existing clients updated throughout the day on the status of their projects.
1:00 pm After lunch, if the day’s schedule calls for it, Travis is out meeting with clients in his primary submarkets of Carmel Valley, UTC, and the Golden Triangle area. But on many days, he’s in his office working with the Hughes Marino Operations team on coordinating tasks, presentations, follow-up letters, and prospecting. “I’m definitely a broker who is in the office more than some of the others. I love the energy here at the office, the support team, and the endless supply of snacks and beverages!”
5:30 pm Travis is home having dinner with Ashlyn, Beckham, and Amelie at their home in Sunset Cliffs. “Balancing work and family is my priority. When I’m home from work, I really try to turn off work.”
7:00 pm Travis is either in the ocean, squeezing in up to an hour of surfing while his family watches from the beach, or he’s attending Bible study with Ashlyn.
8:15 pm The Carters settle in to watch 30 minutes of YouTube videos on the family television. From educational videos, to news snippets, to the most popular trending videos, or comedic relief, YouTube has it all, he says.
10:00 pm After a bit of reading or playing the guitar, Travis’ family members say their prayers, and turn in for a few hours of sleep, before the littlest Carter wakes up for her middle of the night meal.
