SILO<\/h3>\n

<\/b>SILO has been branded \u201cThe Spot, the Space, the Venue.\u201d Located at 753 15th<\/sup> Street, SILO was nothing more than a vacant lot until recently. Now it\u2019s emerged as a meeting place for all things cool. SILO boasts movie nights, craft beer tastings, film festival events and even family-friendly activities like pumpkin patches in the fall. WAREHOUSE1425<\/h3>\n

In keeping with the artistic history of San Diego’s East Village, Warehouse 1425<\/a> pays homage to the pioneers of art and culture in this diverse area of downtown. The massive warehouse is currently used for art showings, and other various cultural gatherings. Art showings are ongoing, and you can learn more about the artists who showcase their work at Warehouse 1425 here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

SMARTS FARM<\/h3>\n

Urban farming and gardening have come to San Diego at Smarts Farm. Created by the nonprofit Humane Smarts<\/a>, the corner of F Street and 15th<\/sup> has come to life with fresh flowers and vegetables in this community garden. According to their website,<\/a> \u201cSmart Farm\u2019s Mission is to support healthy and productive lifestyles for the community while teaching, enhancing, and connecting residents and youth to fresh produce and education about urban gardening. Programs will include multiple workshop venues, hands-on gardening opportunities for San Diego\u2019s youth, as well as community garden plots for nearby residents.\u201d<\/p>\n

Makers Quarters is at the edge of downtown San Diego, just west of I-5.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

So what\u2019s next for Makers Quarter? Here\u2019s what\u2019s coming down the road:<\/i><\/p>\n

Most commercial leases in existing Makers Quarter buildings are maxed out at one year. That\u2019s because developers<\/a> are busy planning for a brand new \u201clive\/work\/play neighborhood that is more than just a new place,\u201d according to their mission statement<\/a>. \u201cThis is a melting pot where creative culture brings to life a collaborative community. It\u2019s a place that embraces the past while ushering in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

So what does that mean? Well, it means that this area of San Diego is one to watch. The revitalization of Makers Quarter is going to be exciting, as developers turn what is currently an underutilized area of downtown into a thriving hub, while breaking ground on new projects and attracting those who are seeking an all-inclusive neighborhood in which to live, work and play. By that token, I predict we\u2019ll see an influx of tech and creative companies to this particular area. There are no definitive dates on when we\u2019ll start to see movement, but it is reasonable to think that within the next five to ten years, this entire area will have undergone a complete renaissance.<\/p>\n
