Dean Petersen<\/strong>\u00a0is senior vice president of the Program, Project and Construction Management team at Hughes Marino, a global corporate real estate advisory firm specializing in tenant representation and project management. He is a LEED accredited project manager who integrates programming, design development, construction due diligence and controls into each step of the commercial real estate management process.<\/p>\n

Dean has decades of construction and project management experience and earned his B.S. degree in construction engineering from Iowa State University. He brings his strong leadership style and exceptional communication skills to deliver projects on-time and on-budget for Hughes Marino clients, all while fitting within the client\u2019s aesthetic goals. Dean\u2019s knowledge of project cost estimating, scheduling, quality control, contract administration and construction means and methods ensures that clients get what they want as the end result. These skills, combined with nearly four decades in the construction market, offer clients a wealth of information in evaluating their options during leasing, design and construction. Hughes Marino takes pride in putting together project teams that work well together and fit with the client\u2019s unique scope of work and personal style to make every project a success for all involved.<\/p>\n

Prior to joining Hughes Marino, Dean served as a senior project manager for 21 years with Johnson & Jennings, Swinerton & Walberg, and as director of tenant improvements and project manager at Koll Construction.<\/p>\n

Over the course of Dean\u2019s career, he has been responsible for the management of more than 6M SF of design and construction valued in excess of $600 million. Dean\u2019s notable tenant improvement projects include: WD-40\u2019s Corporate Headquarters (42K SF two-story building reimaging and interior improvements); GenMark Diagnostics (33K SF of medical device manufacturing with clean and dry rooms); FFF (20K SF of office, 80K SF of climate controlled warehouse with 15K SF of high bay refrigerated\/freezer storage rooms); Procopio (105K SF, LEED Gold, six floors); Entropic Communications (130K SF, two floors, data center, electronics lab and generator backup); aTyr Pharmaceutical (17K SF biology and chemistry labs with vivarium); Provide Commerce, now acquired by FTD Companies (135K SF, five floors, call center, data center, generator backup); ecoATM (54K SF, LEED Silver, call center, data center, generator backup); American Specialty Health (170K SF, 11 floors); Ophthonix (45K SF medical device manufacturing); Nicholas Applegate (63K SF, four floors); Cooley Godward (135K SF); Latham & Watkins (75K SF, LEED Gold, three floors and another project of 100K SF, four floors); JAMS (10 different projects around the country from 15K SF to 33K SF); Bumble Bee Seafoods (30K SF, LEED Silver, historic building renovation); Stepstone Advisors (45K SF office); Sekisui (57K SF Office and Lab); Vividion (50K SF office, biology\/chemistry lab and vivarium); Artiva (50K SF of office, lab and GMP manufacturing); Encodia (55K SF office and lab) and NAI (28K SF of heavy mezzanine for manufacturing and packaging facility).<\/p>\n

In addition, Dean\u2019s ground-up construction and building renovation examples include: Viejas Casino and Resort (159 room, five-story hotel, 25K SF of casino remodel and expansion, three restaurants); a medical office ground up project for Family Health Centers of San Diego, HITEC (40K SF); ground-up and historical building remodel for Francis Parker Lower School (35K SF); ground-up renovations and tenant improvements for Maxwell Technologies (125K SF); site work and ground-up building for Family Health Services ($9 million and 30K SF, two-story MOB) and site renovations and building remodel for the Lindbergh Field Commuter Terminal ($5.7 million, 60K SF).<\/p>\n

In his free time, Dean enjoys spending time with his wife, Jane, and together they love riding their Harley, boating, fishing, traveling and most of all, visiting their children and grandchildren.<\/p>\n
