Summer weather is upon us, and our construction management project list is heating up too! Here is a look at some of the exciting projects we are working on in Southern California.<\/p>\n

\"San

We are thrilled to be managing the East Village Landmark Sign project alongside the East Village Association<\/a>. Lead by Zane Keith<\/a> and Dean Petersen<\/a>, and developed by Selbert Perkins Design<\/a>, the four-post-and-ring sign spanning Market Street will definitely add to the continued development of Downtown. Hughes Marino is truly honored to be selected as EVA’s partner in this project, which will serve as a great statement for the future of San Diego.<\/p>\n

\"Construction
Work is nearly complete on MindTouch\u2019s new downtown headquarters.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This month, the Downtown tech scene will become even cooler. MindTouch<\/a>, an iconic San Diego customer-success-driven SaaS company, will be moving into its new corporate headquarters on the 15th floor of 101 West Broadway. Steven Gorup<\/a> is leading the buildout with partners Ware Malcomb<\/a>, Bycor General Contractors<\/a>, and the Irvine Company<\/a>. The space is the epitome of modern, high-end, creative, and techy, featuring plywood clad conference rooms, open ceilings with exposed ducting, and colorfully patterned carpet tile mixed with sealed concrete floors. The configuration of the space maximizes the incredible downtown view, connecting the team with the ballpark, Coronado Bridge, and Star of India. The space is primarily open along the window line (allowing all team members to enjoy the views) with internal glass offices, conference rooms, and collaboration areas. Hughes Marino is honored to be a part of such an exciting project. It is sure to be a showpiece space for Downtown San Diego!<\/p>\n

\"Tech
Inside Tealium\u2019s sleek Torrey Pines HQ.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In other exciting news, the Hughes Marino Construction Management team will soon be wrapping up the headquarters for Tealium<\/a>, a tag management system and customer data platform company. Led by Steven Gorup<\/a> in conjunction with ID Studios<\/a> and Johnson & Jennings<\/a>, Tealium\u2019s Torrey Pines space is nothing short of sleek. Clean lines are the name of the game, with glass storefront offices, a mixture of open and drop ceilings, luxury vinyl tile (LVT) designed to look like whitewashed wood floors, and creative pendant light fixtures. The break room opens up to a gorgeous outdoor patio via a large roll-up garage door. Every employee has a sit\/stand workstation. There is a game room with ping-pong, pool, and foosball. And did we mention that it has ocean views? Congratulations, Tealium, on your amazing new home!<\/p>\n

\"FashionPhile's

In Carlsbad, Senior Project Manager Nik Bandak<\/a> is helping Fashionphile<\/a> build its new corporate headquarters. Scheduled to be complete in late July, the new HQ is a blend of creative office space and production efficiency. The front office floor is lined with imported Italian tile, glass walls, brick-lined walls in the break room, and a showpiece dumbwaiter used to lift product to the mezzanine. Holding the majority of the inventory, the mezzanine is encased by a custom, white cage with sealed concrete throughout. The mezzanine overlooks the open office below where creative systems furniture is comfortably spread throughout the space, surrounding a faux fireplace and lounge area. A stylish elevator from the first floor to the mezzanine travels through a shaft encased in brick veneer. In the back office, a conveyor lift takes product from the mezzanine down to the photography area where a conveyor belt carries it to the applicable workstation. Fashionphile branding, oversized renderings of celebrities, and logos of the many brands sold by the luxury, online, consignment boutique are emblazoned throughout the space. Overall, the entire facility is engineered to wow Fashionphile\u2019s customers and maximize efficiency for its business model.<\/p>\n

Over in Irvine, Greenwave Systems<\/a> \u2013 a global Internet of Things (IoT) software and services company \u2013 has just kicked off a full floor buildout at Irvine’s newest and tallest building, 200 Spectrum. The space, designed by Gensler<\/a> and being constructed by Howard Building Corporation<\/a>, features open ceilings and glass office fronts that allow for an abundance of natural light and amazing views of Orange County from the 15th<\/sup> floor. The clean lines and open, collaborative floor plan reflect the company’s commitment to innovation. Check back next time for photos of the completed space!<\/p>\n

Spotted Around Town<\/h3>\n

Last week our San Diego team had the unique opportunity to tour the i3 Campus in University Towne Center. The 550,000 SF campus consists of three separate buildings and is anticipated to receive LEED Platinum Certification. Designed by architect Perkins & Will<\/a> and constructed by McCarthy Building Co.,<\/a> a majority of the impressive structure is cast-in-place concrete with 31-foot tall glass curtain walls and cast-in-place balconies extending off the main structure. Recently, the local gene sequencing biotech firm, Illumina<\/a>, agreed to lease all three buildings as office space rather than laboratory space, which is what the three buildings were originally designed for. The building is impressively energy efficient and features a green roof system atop all three buildings with a reclaimed water system for irrigation throughout. The campus will include a full kitchen, fitness center, and yoga room. The main courtyard is designed to be the focal point with bocce ball courts, wooden decks and a grass-area for concerts and special events.<\/p>\n
