Help HM Knock Out Hunger in the Finest City Food Fight

Team HM is banding together this February to help Feeding America fight hunger in San Diego.

We are thrilled to announce that Hughes Marino is once again gearing up to support a non-profit organization that is near to our heart. Beginning February 3rd, we will be participating in Feeding America San Diego’s annual Finest City Food Fight!

Feeding America San Diego (FASD) has long been a special organization for Hughes Marino. This amazing non-profit works tirelessly to provide meals for more than 437,000 children, families and seniors in San Diego County each year. FASD’s efforts continue to humble and inspire our team, and we feel fortunate to have been able to assist them in various ways over the years.

Our own Shane Poppen served as FASD’s real estate advisor, representing the non-profit in its relocation to a new facility in Sorrento Mesa nearly four years ago. Shane is happy to report that since FASD moved in 2010, they have been able to increase the amount of food distributed to San Diegans in need from 13 million pounds to 26 million pounds.

The Hughes Marino team will be volunteering again this month at Feeding America’s distribution center in support of the Finest City Food Fight.

Additionally, the Hughes Marino team has volunteered in that facility in the time since then, packaging food for distribution to the 1 in 6 San Diego residents who do not know where their next meal is coming from. Now, we’re thrilled to be able to participate in FASD’s 2014 Finest City Food Fight.

From February 3- March 7, we will be engaging in a friendly competition with fellow San Diego corporations to see who can collect the most food donations during the campaign. Our team will also be making another visit to volunteer in FASD’s distribution center during the competition. While team HM will be bringing in plenty of food items, we also want to encourage you to join us in the fight!

Please help us make a positive impact towards fighting hunger in San Diego by dropping off non-perishable food items to our office at 1450 Front Street throughout February. Donations will be accepted at Hughes Marino during the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm.

We hope you’ll join us in the fight to end hunger in San Diego County this year. For more information, please visit Feeding America’s website, or contact Lindsey King at liking@feedingamericasd.org.
