Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an organization that provides a home away from home for families with critically ill children receiving medical care. They offer much more than just lodging; they provide comfort, support and a sense of community during some of the most challenging times in a family’s life. With amenities such as private rooms, communal kitchens, and spaces for rest and relaxation, RMHC ensures that families can stay close to their children without the added burden of finding accommodations during a medical crisis.
Our Hughes Marino Houston team has been deeply involved with RMHC, contributing time, resources and personal testimonials to support this vital organization. One of our most impactful initiatives has been organizing toiletry drives across our offices nationwide, ensuring families staying at one of the RMHC locations have access to essential personal care items. Additionally, we hosted a toy drive this holiday season, bringing joy to children and their families during what can often be a stressful time. Our team has also volunteered to serve lunch to families, further demonstrating our hands-on commitment to supporting the organization and its mission.
For our Houston Vice President, Rob Johnson, this partnership holds a deeply personal significance. Rob shared, “Supporting Ronald McDonald House is not just a professional commitment for me; it’s a deeply personal one. Having experienced their kindness and support during one of the toughest times in my family’s life, I am honored to give back and help other families find the comfort and care they need.” When his family faced the unimaginable challenge of having a critically ill baby in the NICU, they experienced firsthand the unparalleled support provided by RMHC. Rob recalls the nursing team advocating for one of the eight exclusive rooms within Ronald McDonald House at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), a facility adjacent to the NICU reserved for families in the most critical situations. These rooms are not available for purchase—they are offered solely based on need, demonstrating the organization’s unwavering commitment to its mission.
This personal experience has driven Rob and our entire Hughes Marino Houston team to strengthen our involvement with RMHC. By supporting RMHC’s efforts, we aim to alleviate some of the stress and uncertainty faced by families both locally and nationally during medical hardships, allowing them to focus on what truly matters: their children.
