What Makes Hughes Marino a Best Place to Work

Southern California’s favorite tenant representation firm makes the list in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego.

By Briana Waris

We are excited to announce that Hughes Marino was named a 2016 Best Place to Work by the San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles Business Journals! To say we are ecstatic is an understatement, and to be recognized by three outstanding publications is an honor we will gladly accept!

At Hughes Marino our team of amazing people is truly our “secret sauce,” and we take pride in the fact that our team members treat one another like family, a fact that I can personally attest to. I first stepped foot inside the Hughes Marino headquarters for an interview a little over a year ago, and was completely blown away by the beauty and comfort of the office. During my interviews with various team members, I couldn’t believe the welcoming kindness that I was shown. My first impression of Hughes Marino was an amazing one to say the least. After a year with the company, I am happy to report that these initial feelings haven’t changed one bit. I think it is safe to say that everyone who works at or with Hughes Marino feels the same way!

We are all so proud to be part of a company that truly appreciates, trusts and respects its team members. To be acknowledged as a Best Place to Work in cities throughout Southern California is a wonderful testament to our unique company culture and core values, in which we take great pride.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are a few pictures that perfectly capture the fun we have here at Hughes Marino!

We love to celebrate birthdays! Every month each office holds a birthday celebration filled with singing and unique treats. Some of this year’s treat highlights included In-N-Out burgers; cupcakes; homemade, gourmet fruit popsicles; and a hot dog bar!

We try to make time for fun as much as possible. Our game room is the perfect place to host our monthly, friendly-yet-competitive billiards and shuffleboard tournaments!

Last August we hosted a Core Values Contest, where participants competed to come up with the most creative way to represent our core values. Orange County operations stars (OpStars for short) Ayu Nirwani, Andrea Kirklen and Jessica Grasch created a rap to the tune of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song!

SD-FreshOps

Not to be outdone, our amazingly talented Chantrelle Castro designed “FreshOps” shirts for the entire operations team. Here our San Diego Ops team wears them proudly in front of our headquarters.

Who could say no to this adorable face? We are happy to have a dog-friendly headquarters, where pups like Brinkley always brighten our workday when they come to visit!

We had a lot of fun at our annual holiday party last December at the top of DiamondView Tower. The fun-filled night included delicious food, a photo booth, live music, and even craps and roulette tables!

Always up for some healthy competition, HM’s Orange County basketball team is making us proud in the Jamboree Center basketball league this year!

Our team meetings at Hughes Marino are always filled with inspiration, team building, and fun! Between the “WOW” cards, touching stories, and discussions on how we can continue to grow and improve, each meeting leaves us inspired and even more connected to one another than before.

We are truly thrilled to once again be named a great place to work. This is our fifth year in a row we’ve made the San Diego list, our third in Orange County, and our first in Los Angeles! More than anything, I know I speak for everyone at Hughes Marino when I say that we are thankful for the opportunity to work at such an amazing company with such wonderful people who love to have fun (insert shameless plug – go follow us on Instagram here!) All of this wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the unstoppable duo of Jason and Shay Hughes, for whom we are so very grateful. We look forward to helping them come up with even more creative ways to make Hughes Marino such a great place to work in the years to come.
