Hughes Marino Completes
104K SF Lease for Clutter’s Expansion in Des Moines, WA

By Briana Waris

Hughes Marino, an award-winning commercial real estate firm exclusively representing tenants and buyers, announced that it has completed a 104,166 SF lease with Clutter, a full-service storage company that operates in seven major cities nationally. Unlike traditional self-storage, Clutter picks up, stores and then returns customers’ belongings on-demand. In the process, Clutter photographs each item and creates an online inventory, making it easy for customers to see what’s in storage and request a delivery. The newly leased space is located at Des Moines Creek Business Park Phase IV located at 21215 Pacific Highway South in Des Moines, WA.

Clutter, founded in 2015, launched its Seattle operations in January 2017. In the 16 months since launch, Clutter increased its warehouse footprint on three separate occasions. The move to lease at 21215 Pacific Highway South is its fourth expansion.

Hughes Marino Executive Vice President Owen Rice and Vice President Gavin Curtis, both based in the company’s Seattle office, represented Clutter in the transaction.

Rice said: “The Des Moines Creek Business Park offers our client with some of the best warehousing capabilities in the Puget Sound.”

Allie Martin, Clutter’s Marketing and Communications Manager, said: “Clutter’s graduation to this new, larger warehouse signals our rapid growth and the extent to which Seattleites have embraced our service. We’re appreciative to have Hughes Marino by our side brokering the deal.”

Delivering in May of 2018 and located across from the new FAA development and Des Moines Creek Business Park, this new facility has some of the best access in the Seattle area to major freeways, the Seattle Tacoma International Airport and the Angle Lake Light Rail Station. The building has 36’ interior clear height, ESFR fire protection and energy efficient LED lighting throughout.

Rice adds: “Clutter is blazing a new trail in the storage industry and I’m thrilled to be a part of its Seattle area expansion.”

Clutter will be relocating and expanding from its current Kent, WA, location where it occupies 25,000 SF. The firm anticipates occupying its new space in May 2018.
