Structural Steel Erection Begins at the New Performing Arts Complex at Helix Charter High School

Hughes Marino San  Diego width=Signs of visible progress are being seen at Helix Charter High School where the future home of the Performing Arts Complex is being erected. Turner Construction Company, Hughes Marino CM, and Summit Builders are working alongside LPA, Inc. and the Grossmont Union High School District to create the District’s first ever Performing Arts Complex (PAC).

The project consists of the 34,000 square foot PAC building and site and parking lot improvements. The PAC building will provide Helix Charter HS with a new dance studio accompanied by supporting dressing rooms and locker rooms; also, a black box theater room for musical performances will be surrounded by a music library, storage space, and teacher’s offices. The main theater will be the focal point of the building which will seat over 400 spectators split between the first floor and mezzanine level.

The project will take approximately 18-months to complete. Upon completion, the Performing Arts Complex will serves as the new home for the schools dance, drama, and music departments.

Helix Charter High School is located in La Mesa and has approximately 2,400 students in attendance. This project is being funded by the Proposition U bond programs as an expansion and modernization of Helix Charter High School.

Chris Rizzuti is the Senior Project Manager for the Grossmont Union High School District and Victor Giudici is the Project Manager for LPA, Inc. Stan Singh is the Project Engineer, Jason Falco is the Project Manager, and John Paul-Travis is the Superintendent for Turner Construction Company. Mark Reed is the Project Manager for Summit Builders who is the Prime General Contractor on the project. The project is being managed by Hughes Marino CM.
