Spaces We Love: Back’s Construction’s Creatively Industrial Headquarters

By Star Hughes-Gorup

When most people think about a general contractor’s office, they think construction trailers, hard hats, and minimalist design. Back’s Construction’s headquarters in San Diego’s neighborhood of Little Italy couldn’t be further from that image (though they do have plenty of hard hats)!

Back’s Construction bought their building on the corner of Front Street and Cedar Street back in 2012 – and have made it into a one-of-a-kind industrial, creative, and cool home for their team members. The building has incredible barrel vaulted wood open ceilings with metal trusses and gorgeous skylights that flood the interior with natural light.

The space is a mix of modern, high-end office and creative, funky warehouse with metal, concrete, and lots of glass. The two-story building has a subterranean break room and lounge area with a large metal staircase that connects the two levels, creating fluidity within the space and adding great design elements.

The space boasts a pool table, shuffleboard, and reclaimed wood conference tables – not to mention bright pops of color from fun wall graphics that cover the conference room walls.

To see just what a great job they do for their clients, take a look at their amazing office and the results speak for themselves! Congratulations, Back’s!
